The only time I don't run out of skill points is when I run out of gold first.

This would give an advantage to people that have been playing longer and have ammassed a large number of skill points. This is of no use to new players who have to aquire a large number of skill points just to purchase there primary skills.

As it stands now the time needed to earn 1 skill points is at least equal if not longer than earning 1k. So if you wish to use your skill points then dont spend all your cash on 15k armor and such.

Not signed on this one. Right now the amount of Balthazar Faction a player has is the best, if not the only good way to determine one's PvP experience. Not for nothing do you see so many guilds recruit with 300K faction as a requirement. This would make it too easy for Johnny Wammo to achieve that. (and yes, Johnny Wammo achieving this would be a bad thing)

Although I wouldn't judge someone by balthazar faction alone...it is a moderate indicator and you really already have that connection between pve and pvp. Whenever you buy/earn a skill, you unlock it, moving yourself towards UAX. Giving you faction to then spend on skills would accomplish the same goal, except it would make you falsely appear that you pvp.

I'd rather trade money for skill points than the other way around.

/notsigned points for money
/notsigned multiple points for skill
/notsigned points for faction

my suggestion would be whenever you just want to unlock a skill, you just pay 1 skill point. Same idea as skill for faction, however now you can't obtain elites with is. Just skills you could equip ingame.

Trade skill points for money?

Are you trying to give solo farmers even more reason to carry on? Why in gods name would Anet go so far to stop botters and abusive solo farming to turn around and give away gold for skill points. Seriously at least think of something that may have a chance in hell of been implemented.

Well i guess you did. Trading multiple skill points for a skill wouldn't be bad. But thats way too easy to get a UAS and still encourages solo farming for exp since any gold you get would be a nice byproduct.

But semi-signed for multiple skill points = a free skill, just more than 2 per skill. Make it 5.

Let me rephrase:
Achieving the best indicator of one's PvP experience we currently have through PvE would be a bad thing

As is, I find myself approaching the 100 skill point mark with my primary character without any real use for them (since I'm not interested in the skill hunter title).
On average you have 100 skill points by the end of a campaign.

Lets say you dont need them, you would be giving people an instant supply of 10k if you sold them for 100 each.

The economy would go insain and prices would shoot up to moronic prices.

Sorry to be rude, but again this is a daft idea about putting more gold into the economy. Something we DONT need.

Plus I can assure you, there will come a point when you need those skill points. Whether it be for future campaigns, a full set of skills and elite skills for your profession, or some other use. Then youl be complaining you havent got enough.

As for using them like trade commendations.

We already have countless objects which we use like that throughout factions and elona.

I dont think we need another one to add to it. Plus what would you trade them for?

If we do anything with skill points, we need to be able to transfer them between characters or combine them accross characters as a grand totle, incase others run out.

Other then that, I dont see anything wrong with having excess skill points. I remember a time when I ran out and I had to wait till nightfall was released to get a chance to get more.

I could see using multiple skill points alone to get skills. However, I think it's a bad idea to allow users to get money, faction or anything else for it. It would give a second money source from farming, but worse yet, it would encourage people to get quick cash rather than broadening their skill set. So, a player could get seven skills for their bar and then just start getting cash for everything else.

Or if you use the faction method, they'll set up a farm character and unlock everything for PvP.

And then complain that they never have enough skill points free.

X Balthazar Faction = 1 Skillpoint on a two-way street
(probably equate the time to achieve each)

Balthazar faction unlocked this way would not be counted toward the total Balthazar faction Earned by the account, which would be reserved to PvP battles . Meanwhile it provides a way of transferring skillpoints between two PvE characters. Also this would allow unlocking skills and other items at the Priest of Balthazar for non-PvP players, which could then be unlocked for PvE at skill trainers for non-elite skills.

The problem would be keeping people from farming lvl 1-20 new characters on easy missions (some of the easiest/quickest skillpoints) to unlock everything at the Priest of Balthazar and give skills to all their characters. This problem would also be readily apparent in the money for skillpoints.

I would be interested in any ideas similar to this, perhaps the simplest solution for me (5x more skillpoints than open Cash, but do want all skills unlocked) would be to reduce the maximum price of using the skill trainers.

money: 100g is nothing compared to the drops you'd typically get while levelling so I don't think this would imbalance at all.

multiple-skill-points: I like the option of putting more points in instead of cash because the cash can be a real money sink. I worked it out that I'd spent over 430k on skills for my warrior

If you don't want to spend skill points on skills, then don't. They're not money points.

/notsigned for cashing in for money, multiple for skills, or faction.

So?? Bill Gates make billions, but does that stop you from buying Windows-based softwares ?? Now we have skills points that are accumulating and not used for anything. They have to be traded for "something". Either money or factions sound good to me, as neither of which can break the game's balance. So...
